Tag Heuer

TAG Heuer, a Swiss manufacturer renowned for its precision chronographs and luxury sports watches, has its roots dating back to 1860 when it was founded by Édouard Heuer, the son of a cobbler, in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Initially known for pioneering advancements in watchmaking, such as the invention of the independent winding crown in 1869, the company quickly gained recognition for its technical expertise. In 1880, Édouard Heuer became the first to produce chronographs on a mass scale, setting the stage for TAG Heuer’s legacy in high-level sports competitions. Noteworthy innovations, including the creation of the first waterproof case in 1895, solidified Heuer’s reputation. The company’s groundbreaking contributions continued with the patenting of a chronograph mechanism in 1882 and the invention of the oscillating pinion in 1887, a foundational element in many chronographs worldwide. TAG Heuer’s commitment to innovation and technical excellence earned it a silver medal at the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition for its collection of pocket chronographs. Today, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, TAG Heuer is part of the LVMH Group since 1999, maintaining a legacy of precision and innovation in the world of luxury timepieces.
